In a state the size of Western Australia, communicating with colleagues, clients and even family who are located throughout the state, country or world, can be costly and time consuming.
Videoconferencing allows individuals and small and large groups to meet face-to-face with others, regardless of the distance, without leaving their local area.
The technology enables two way vision and voice communication to happen in real time at a fraction of the cost of physically moving individuals, or groups, to another town or major city.
It's cheaper and faster than hopping on the plane
You can use it for:
- Meetings including interstate or overseas
- Consultations with lawyers, accountants, doctors, work colleagues
- Networking with other sites/head office
- Workplace training
- Access to tertiary educational training programs
- Contract with family and friends
- Statewide conferences
- Marketing products and conducting product launches
- Client interviews and consultations
- Government service delivery
Over 60 Western Australian Telecentre's now offer public access videoconferencing facilities that are available to anyone on a fee for service basis.
Each Telecentre videoconferencing site offers a professional environment. Polycom videoconferencing equipment provides a minimum connection speed of 128kbps, a document camera gives enhanced presentation capabilities and a VCR allows you to record your conference. All equipment is user friendly with full technical support provided by the local Telecentre coordinator or bridging service provider.
